i am FORCING myself to watch “joe millionaire” this go-round. why? as fodder for my blog. witty social and cultural commentary and alla that crap.
i have only one comment this week because we were watching while we were doing a quick house clean-up. i know now that this show is much deeper and requires greater concentration than i had previously believed. it deserves my COMPLETE attention.
my experience with the last j-m was very limited. i allowed myself to “tire” too quickly, thus depriving myself of the real experience. one to be savored. mulled over. digested. and finally, after all of that – hurled. previously, i hurled immediately and changed the channel in disgust. i just didn’t GET it. now i do. and next week (or is it sometime later this week – i must find out), there will be no cleaning, no talking, no distractions at all. i will be prepared. i will even take notes.
i am deeply gratified to know that there are soul-less, brainless, heartless skeeves all around the world – not only in the u.s.
i had thought that there would have to be a completely different kind of twist on this new go-round, that it would be impossible to find an entirely new group of this kind of twit to fill the bras (or not, as the case may be). however, the producers were able to find just what they needed in europe. can you believe it?! in europe! sheesh! and i think (i’m not sure) one of the women is from FRANCE! holy shit!
the contempt that oozed from these “women” for americans was unbelievable! oh, not american culture. not american money. just american people.
i think that europeans should be FORCED to watch this show. it is my dream that as each person is embarrassed by the “representation” by these “women” and dismisses that thought by saying that these “women” are only a small group, not a representation at all – that the VERY NEXT THOUGHT is “geez, maybe americans aren’t ONLY what i’ve seen on tv or even the news (cough: general boykin) – perhaps, just perhaps, americans are more than this, just as we europeans are."
nahhh.

so, so sad! there's got to be something better than CRAP tv!
there is -- but you can't make fun of it.
hey! aren't you and matt the ones who NEVER miss big brother???!!!
Posted by: stacey at October 21, 2003 03:10 PMWe are watching shows from years back. I think our broadcasting corporation thinks we will not hear it when Judge Judy says "next year it will be 1999 and you ... etc etc" and therefore we will be ignorant enough to believe we are being shown current shows. I suppose the cost is third the price of latest shows. So I have absolutely no idea about Joe Millionnaire. But as for sluts - yeah we have them here too.

Posted by: matt at October 21, 2003 08:03 PMI am a reality snob. I only watch Survivor. That makes me better than all the other reality TV viewers. ROFLMAO. I have to have something to feel superior about. Actually I am thrilled to see that Europeans are on it, maybe now they'll realize they are just as voyeuristic as the rest of us.
(the superiority thing was a joke)
