I have your attention now. The quote is from Oliver Twist by Dickens. I don't want to change any idea you have, but if you read the dialogue that Mr. Bumble has with Mr. Brownlow, then you come away with a different interpretation. Don't look it up, here it is:

Brownlow: You were present on the occasion of the destruction of these trinkets, and indeed are the more guilty of the two, in the eye of the law; for the law supposes that your wife acts under your direction.

Bumble: If the law supposes that, the law is a ass – a idiot. If that’s the eye of the law, the law is a bachelor.

Okay. We got that little matter cleared up. I don't know why I wanted to bring that to your attention; but the list thing isn't my idea. I don't want you to paint me with a broad brush.

In any event, I was thinking that I would order the new bobble-head doll coming out. Every lawyer should start a Supreme Court bobble head doll collection -- the Chief Justice doll came out last year. I can probably pick it up on e-Bay.
