Around Town With the New Harmonic Balancer

  • I find it telling that President Bush shoots doves when he hunts instead of heading out into the wilderness to kill deer or bears. Fucking coward; hence, Iraq.

  • Karmic forces dictate that the Red Sox bite the big one again. The fortunes of the Chicago Cubs and the Boston Red Sox seem to be inextricably linked. As go the Cubs, so go the Red Sox. And vice versa. After much research, I have discovered that Bill Buckner, having played in his prime for both teams, is the key. I do not condone human sacrifice, but that may not stop some Red Sox and Cubs fans.

  • The Cleveland Browns suck. Big time.

  • A group called Saliva with No Blindfold plays this weekend on Sunday at the Odeon in Cleveland, where Gwar will appear on November 10 with Dying Fetus. No, I'm not saying that these names are unusual -- they got nothin' on the Dead Kennedys.

  • There is a part called an harmonic balancer on the red Mitsubishi 3000GT. It sure did cost a lot to replace. The auto shop guy called it "a harmonic balancer," which is apparently acceptable usage nowadays.

  • I saw a billboard today with a white background and "T I M" in huge-ass green caps on it. Later, I realized that this was a political ad ... the present Cuyahoga County Recorder is a guy named Patrick O'Malley, recently arrested and jailed for a bit on the charge of beating his wife, and who is running against a guy named Tim O'Malley. Tim not only has that huge billboard, he has yard signs that say: Vote for TIM "the Good One" O'Malley.

  • Some people carve a couple of pumpkins for Halloween. Some people put up a ghost made of a white sheet on the old lamp post. Some people put little cut-outs of green-faced witches on brooms in the front window. The people at this house don't believe in sweating the small stuff:

Love the picture. The white bug looks somewhat familiar. Heck, real hunters kill everything that moves. I know.

Good lord. Does that house look resemble the Griswold's at Christmas? I just had that thought flash through my head when I saw this photo again and suddenly your christmas lights rewiring story popped into my brain and OMG! CLARK GRISWOLD! and... well?

Hey, if I were a little kid, this house would be my first pick to trick or treat!

Sadly, in our neighborhood, you stand a better than 50/50 chance that your decorations will get stolen, and your trick or treater crowd will be smaller than Republicans at a Michael Moore flick.

And they probably buy hundreds of pounds of candy! I wonder (hint, hint) what this house looks like at Xmas.
