Comments: The Horror

I'd ask you to publish the names of everyone who was killed by Hurricane Katrina due to the incompentence of the relief effort, but your fingers would get very sore.

It amazes me that no matter what the so-called liberal media dishes out, most people remain utterly disgusted with the federal handling of this and the way Bush denies all accountability.

Maybe we will win the struggle after all....

You know what I find interesting? The disappearance of Jeb Bush from the airwaves. Perhaps he's feeling a bit guilty that his state got immediate assistance after other hurricanes (including Katrina, which hit Florida several days before hitting the central gulf coast) and wondering if maybe the fact that he could pick up the phone and call his brother and help would be on the way before he hung up might have more to do with nepotism than competency on his brother's part. Perhaps he's just following the dictum, 'If you can't say something nice about somebody, don't say anything at all.'

Not being American I am not at liberty to run your President down but ....... oh what the heck .... actually Marc over at the Olive House wrote a great piece the other day, sharing my sentiments. Do you know that thousands upon thousands of people die on the african continent each year and the world does not even blink an eye. Woman and children are raped, tortured and starved to death and no one helps them. This is a very sore subject for me living here on the african continent because Africa is simply forgotten because the countries happen to be 3rd world. I wonder if people are less human and thus less important because they happen to live in a war-torn 3rd world country? India suffer floods every single year with thousands dying but hardly any aide is given to them. Marc put it nicely - no one does anything because the media is not there recording the atrocities but the media will go to New Orleans and bombard everyone with news coverage 24/7. I guess Bushy Baby is living up to his reputation - "Don't blink eye lids".

Rant over - and being a very good lawyer I know you don't mind me ranting and sharing my opinion *grin*.

Michelle, did you notice that most of the people who have been left to suffer in Mew orleans are black too?
I couldn't help noticing that they got the police through to stop the looting quickly enough.

I heard that in some cases the police were breaking the locks to stores and malls with the proviso that people take only food. Reasonable under the circumstances.

A conservative would have had them shot.
