I have had it. I love Old Navy. I have Old Navy jeans and shirts and sweaters and underwear. But the Old Navy painter's pants commercials with the chick with the phony smile and wink and the two guys who look like they don't speak English is driving me fucking crazy. And this commercial -- there may be more than one, but they all look the same and sound the same with that damn song -- plays between every inning of every baseball game, sometimes twice. In the name of Sammy Sosa, Pedro Martinez, and baseball, please, please, please take it off the air. I promise I will buy 10 ... 20 pairs of painter's pants, not the stupid-ass blue ones, though, because evereyone knows painter's pants are that off-white color, if you take the commercial off the air or at least change the fuckin' music. Please. How much can it cost to make a commercial like that with phony backgrounds?
Not only did the Cubs lose -- since October, 1997, I have hated the Marlins (and Jose Mesa can eat it, too, for that matter) -- but that commercial will be playing during the World Series because the games are on FOX.
And then the other set of commercials -- what, only two sponsors? -- and I'm NOT lovin' it, shown are the hip-hop, fucked-up McDonald's commercials. No wonder I feel ill every time I drive past McDonald's. It's a crock -- and nobody is convincing me to change from Burger King.
And if the Red Sox lose today, I will NOT watch the World Series!

Posted by: stacey at October 16, 2003 10:46 AMimagine having to work there, 1-10, for weeks and weeks straight. now imagine having a shift change and working 6-3am in order to unload the truck and stock the store. NOW imagine, at 2am, EVEN AFTER THE STORE IS CLOSED, that music still playing. because it does. all night long.

Posted by: jenB at October 16, 2003 11:43 AMOld Navy commercials seem to be the graveyard of doing-nothing-else faded glamour girls. They got rid of Morgan Fairchild and replaced her with Nanny Fine. Is that progress?
Posted by: Suzette at October 16, 2003 01:09 PMoh yeah and why does she have to open her mouth to wink? gawd I despise that commercial.
I'm with you.. no Boston no Series. I'm done.
Posted by: Charlene at October 16, 2003 07:32 PMWhich other countries play in the World Series? In World Cup Rugby - you have England, Ireland, France, Italy, Uruguay, Argentina, Wales, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, South Africa, Namibia, Japan..... oh and so many more other countries.

/go Fish!
Posted by: btezra at October 17, 2003 01:00 PMOnly Canada has the possiblity of playing in the World Series (have they been in the World Series since the '80s?). Although, there are a ton of foreign players. Maybe that counts.
Posted by: pink lotus at October 17, 2003 01:30 PMI hate that commercial, too!
Posted by: Busy Mom at October 17, 2003 04:45 PMOld Navy commercials I stand, but that infernal McDonald's commercial you mentioned is another story. ARRGH!! It is the bane of my existense. Why don't they advertise about how good their mayonaise tastes or something that might actually convince people buy food, not records?!?
P.S. I ran into Mark and Jack this weekend, didn't they tell you?
I LOVE the babe in that commercial. Googled and found this site. The "Nanny Fine" rip made me think about it. And, since I had not watched the Fran Drescher show (don't know the name of it), I didn't realize it was her.
And onto the topic. Oh yeah... GO MARLINS!!!
