I AM NOT BEING MEAN

from dictionary.com

mal•a•prop•ism (m l -pr p- z m)
n.
1. Ludicrous misuse of a word, especially by confusion with one of similar sound.
2. An example of such misuse.

i’m not sure if this qualifies, and i can really hardly believe it’s true. can it be? really?

i report the following respectfully. i’m not above this kind of thing myself (although not to the degree of ms. simpson), and i don’t think there are many people who can claim that they are (above it – OR as ridiculously stoopid as ms. s). they ARE funny, though. so, without further introduction, here are some of the funnier malapropisms to which i’ve been privy this past week.

  • my employer is providing the sales staff with new cell phones – new blackberry devices. cool! after my boss informed a co-worker of this, he called his wife to tell her he was getting a BLUEBERRY! ok. maybe not so funny. you’d have to know the guy.

  • a friend asked me if another friend who’s recently lost about 50 pounds was on the SOUTHPARK diet! you know, instead of the south BEACH diet? that one was funny, admit it. i had a hard time not giggling at that one.

  • same friend, talking about some shoulder pain she’s been dealing with, told me it was not a torn ROTOR cuff. ok. i shoulda ended with the southpark diet, huh?
  • heard any good ones lately?

All I have to say is that I watch her show. I think it is all an act. Ratings, ya know!
