ANNOUNCEMENTS
[This post was authored by Stacey; but because she is so busy, she asked me to post it for her and, idiot that I am, I logged in as me instead of her. So, I am not having knee surgery. I did go to see "A Christmas Carol;" and in addition to Stacey's complaints below, some little kid stuck his hand through the curtain separating our box from the, er ... others, and up DT's pant leg. Needless to say, the child had the shit scared out of him when DT's country-fried steak of a hand clamped down on the kid's noggin. I recall that testicular examination the 92-year-old lady doctor did on me during my physical for baseball freshman year in college for quite the opposite reason, I guess.]
lots going on. duh. that was profound, huh? like i’m the only one who’s busy?
i see another surgeon in my orthopedist’s office on monday. the one who handles the YOUNG (oh yes, he DID, TOO, say “young”) knee patients. he’s going to schedule knee replacement surgery ASAP for my left knee. left knee is bone on bone already (congenital defects – not regular arthritis). right knee close, but can wait a couple 5 years – i hope. this is such great news for me. the pain in this left knee has been tremendous for the past year and a half, barely kept at bay by medication – mostly by limiting activity. it’s been extremely frustrating. anytime i cook, shop, do ANYTHING, i pay for it.
we went to see “a christmas carol” at the cleveland playhouse last week. we’ve seen this production a couple 5 or 6 times in the past 15 years or so, and enjoyed many other plays there. i don’t know. maybe i AM getting old. i cannot tell you how pissed i was / am about the discourteous behavior of many of the other patrons. first of all – and i mostly hold the theater responsible for THIS one – ushers allowed latecomers (at least 5 or 6 different groups) to come into the theater AFTER the performance started. wtf??? not bad enough? how bout the late 20’s/early 30’s couple directly in front of us who would not stop talking the entire performance (UNLESS THEY WERE NECKING). i actually had to shush them. after intermission, people moved around to different seats (like it was a freaking ball game); and another young couple moved right next to us. and THEY talked for the rest of the performance.
i made a doctor’s appointment for jax for this morning and made the mistake of not inquiring if the new doctor (a female) was “hot.” and she is. so after she took j’s blood pressure – and it was a little high, MAYBE BECAUSE HE WAS NERVOUS, SHE SAID – she asked if he minded if she did a testicular examination. he told her “THAT’S not gonna help my blood pressure, lady!”
trader joe’s tonight. tree tomorrow. make sauce and latkes and applesauce on friday. sister’s christmas on saturday. early christmas breakfast with the kids sunday. office christmas party monday. that’s as far ahead as i can think.

I love going to see shows, but it is seriously getting rediculous paying the prices you have to pay to see them and putting up with the crap you have to put up with because people just don't know how to behave at a live performance anymore. And the theaters put up with it. As you say, letting patrons in late and seating them late - awful. Talking through the show, cell phones going off and people having the nerve to actually answer them and talk rather than hitting the end key immediately and shutting them off then.
You got me started, Stacey. A major rant of mine because we really love to go to the theater and so many of the shows have had these problems. But we won't stop going. We just keep hoping to get lucky enough to land our tickets for a night that Wife Swap TV is too good to miss... ;)
Oh Stacey, I'm sure that's the first I've heard about your knee, although I know you have difficulty getting around. Hope your operation comes round soon. Sounds like Jackson is well (depite the blood pressure!).
