thanks for sharing jax's music. hope all is well. And yes, the cinder-block of mother love.

La sproglettina came by today--staying at dad's this week--to study. Hard to study at dad's. And chill. Hard to chill at dad's. El sproglettino grande is doing great. El sproglettino minor will be back from GB for two weeks in May. Hoorray! I sent him an email after months of silence--"are you still alive?" Answer: "yes". Our children love to gig us, I think.

I'm sorry. The previous comment was just babble. I went to feed the animals and thought, "why did I babble like that?"

I think if you haven't walked this road -- a child or sibling or parent with substance abuse, and relapsing, & entering rehab -- you haven't a clue. You think you do but you don't. A kind of weeping, of grieving, like shards of glass leaving your body. You can't keep it in but it is agony, letting it out.

El sproglettino grande is also a musician. He's found some straight-edge folk to jam with -- he thought he had to give up music for sobriety, and was willing to do that. I thought it was a deal with the devil, an unkeepable deal. So far so good, esg, but the compelling myth of the live-wild musician is deep in our culture. It drags at our children, like an undertow.

So I babbled to keep away the specter of relapse. "La la la" I have my fingers in my ears and my eyes squeezed shut.

Like that helps you, or mi hijo el sproglettino grande, or me.

My very warmest thoughts to you, and Bill, and Matt, and Jackson.

Wow. Double wow.

A talented young man you have there.

And I sincerely hope good things are in his future. With parents like you and Bill, he has the best team in his corner.

Words, especially typed ones, seem so empty and meaningless, but my heart goes out to you.
