Fuck It, Let's Go Bowling

Liberty and democracy become unholy when their hands are dyed red with innocent blood. -- Mohandas K. Gandhi

See, I started to write this post with the best intentions ... you know, like all intelligent-sounding and rational. I planned to set out all kinds of high-fallutin' arguments that would be like persuasive in the extreme. Then, while I was in the shower, brushing my teeth, the thought crossed my mind -- Why?

The mother-fuckers running this fucked-up country don't really give a shit about stuff that really matters. Dude, really ...

And it would be cool if Woody Austin wins the Memorial Golf Tournament today.

Tonight I played baseball with my son for 2 hours while my daughter played at the playground with one of her classmates. Never thought about politics even once the entire time.

It was bliss.

I didn't go down the political road much today, either. :) I spent the day with a large number of people who don't like each other much (well I spent some time with them after grad, I should say) but who were forced to come together for the common good - one incredible young lady's special day. And it was amazing. They spoke with civil tongue. They didn't draw any weapons and kill each other. They didn't make up any lies about one another. They didn't try to embezzle any money, kidnap, beat, rape, mame, or kill each other out of fear. The hatred and anger and fear the some of them have for each other runs just as deeply as the mythical fear and anger and hatred that some Americans fear for those we war against today. Where is the lesson?
