Uhhh, I Forgot

I'm not just a little disappointed that I didn't realize the Boston Marathon was run today because, in my mind, I had a real good chance of winning this year. I could give the excuse that I forgot and took a trip to New York instead; but that would have meant that I once knew the Marathon was scheduled for today and that it simply -- slipped my mind. But that's not what happened. I guess the problem was that I just didn't think about it -- at all. Ever.

But I found out a few minutes ago that the Boston Marathon was run today; and, in my mind, I could have won.

And now that I thought about it, and I won, I'm kind of tired.

See how that works. It's a strange world.

No wonder I'm feeling out of breath: some sonofabitch is climbing Everest.

we were talking with some of doug's co-workers who are like ... fit and skinny. one of them was talking about how she was running this year. the other is training for NY.

doug, deadpan and straight faced said "Yeah, i'm trying to decide if I'm gonna run. Not sure... I think I'll make up my mind on Sunday night, you know, right before I go to bed."

I said "you'll have to put down the jug of wine first."

he asked "put down as in drink or put down as in set it down?"

i said "why not both."

eventually his coworkers started laughing, but i think for a second they believed us.

you and doug totally coulda won if you ran as a team.
