arm healing well, even though i broke the bone worse (by falling yet again, doh!) 3 weeks after the first break and thus added more time to the healing process. and even though i've been a whiney, weepy patient, i've done really, really well in aiding the healing. doc said x-rays look EXCELLENT, and i can use the sling starting monday on an as-needed basis and can start physical therapy on thursday (i've started my whining about the p.t. already). this has been a freaking bitch.
i went to my 35th (!!!) high school reunion meet and greet on friday night with my old, OLD buddy, betty (not that WE are old -- our friendship began in the 5th grade). we had an unexpected ball. betty and i are / were a little different in terms of how we weathered the h.s. social scene. i moved in and out, depending on how i was feeling at the moment, participating sketchily. betty was a total radical in "our" eyes. i loved / love her. will always love her.
the BIGGEST news. in chronological order. last saturday (not yesterday), i was sitting in my living room with my sister, p.j., who was in town for a couple weeks fron sarasota. bill walked in from a purported appointment with a "client" and joined in the conversation. about a minute later, the door opened. i turned my head to see who it was. JACKSON. he and bill had conspired for at least a month to bring the jackal home for a week-long visit. it was AWESOME. i guess this was a secret only from me. i'm usually pretty savvy, and it's tough to surprise me. i blame it on the vicodin, percocet, and muscle relaxers.
it was great to see him. it's great to see him turning into a MAN. a clean and sober MAN. he looks great, has been promoted, and is just doing phenomenal in all ways. AND. today is his ONE-YEAR sobriety date. those of you who were reading last summer know how big this is. it's a very special day for all of us who love and admire jackson.
a cool story about his "visit:" friday, jax was scheduled to fly back to florida. we dropped him off at the airport an hour and a half before scheduled e.t.d. my phone rang 10 minutes after we left airport. jax's flight had been canceled due to weather conditions. [NOTE: YES, CANCELED IS SPELLED LIKE THAT IN THE U.S. LOOK IT UP.] sorry about that. a pet peeve reared its ugly head. anywho... he rescheduled for early saturday morning, leaving him available to attend his old home group meeting. he was thrilled to be able to do that. i went out with betty. jax called bill after the meeting with news that the flight was NOT canceled due to weather. it was so that he could attend the meeting and meet up with a guy who had great things to say about j's music and offered his help. i'm trying to be discreet here. i won't name names, but this was BIG. his words: "i almost shit myself."
how much better could life be? i adore my husband. my children are thriving. THRIVING. mark and sarah's wedding is in 27 days. i must have done something good.
well, i could do without the following types of conversations, which are not unusual in a family of scientifically curious boys [government spooks: if you're reading -- they don't talk like this because they are planning ANYTHING subversive at ALL. get over yourselves!] i doubt that helped -- probably should have been a little nicer, huh?
conversation:
j: did you know you can make napalm out of one part styrofoam and one part gasoline? it's a quote from "fight club?" do you think that's right?
b: sounds possible. wanna try it?
me: [wailing] NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
kiss your babies for me.
I REREAD THE COMMENTS FROM LAST YEAR'S POST AGAIN; AND I CANNOT EXPRESS HOW MUCH YOUR COMMENTS THEN, TODAY, AND ALWAYS MEANT, MEAN, AND WILL ALWAYS MEAN TO ME.

Broke my collar bone in two places once = in a car wreck. I was sitting in the backseat, got knocked forward between the bucket seats, and Voila! Karate chop to both sides. Hurt like a mother bitch.
Hope you are mending good so you can send us photos of your first scooter adventure!
